THE CHALLENGE
The site had a clear requirement — and it wasn't a simple one to meet.
Delivery trucks and large vans needed reliable, uninterrupted access at all times. These aren't vehicles you can pre-register easily — freight operators rotate drivers and vehicles constantly, and handing out fobs or codes to every delivery driver across multiple carriers wasn't realistic. Too many vehicles, too much churn, and too much administrative overhead to keep anything up to date.
At the same time, the restricted area needed to be completely off-limits to unauthorised private vehicles. Cars parking in delivery zones or access lanes create real problems for a commercial site - blocked bays, frustrated tenants, and interrupted operations.
A standard barrier with a fixed code or fob system would have created as many problems as it solved. Too permissive, and unauthorised vehicles would find their way in. Too restrictive, and deliveries would be delayed every time a new driver or vehicle turned up.
What Wallace Group needed was a system intelligent enough to tell the difference between a delivery truck and a private car — automatically, every time, without anyone needing to intervene.

THE SOLUTION
Inugo deployed two Milesight 5MP PTZ cameras and a Beninca EVA.7 7-metre barrier arm at the site entrance, running two separate processes simultaneously on every vehicle approach.
For delivery vehicles, the system uses AI-powered vehicle class detection. When a truck or large van approaches, the camera identifies the vehicle type in real time and triggers the barrier to open automatically — no plate registration required, no driver interaction, no delays. The 7-metre arm is specifically sized to clear large delivery vehicles without restriction, even at full load height.
For private cars, the system switches to LPR-based allowlist checking. When a car approaches, the camera reads the plate and checks it against the authorised list. If it matches, the gate opens. If it doesn't, access is denied.
Both processes run in parallel on every approach. The system reads the vehicle, applies the correct rule, and acts — all within seconds of arrival.
The site runs on a cellular uplink managed by Inugo, with no dependency on client internet infrastructure. The system is fully self-contained on site, which means there's nothing for the team to maintain or monitor locally. Everything — plate additions, removals, access logs — is managed remotely through the Inugo platform. When a new contractor needs access, it's added from the management portal. When access needs to be removed, it's gone immediately, without anyone visiting the site.

THE RESULTS
Since going live in July 2025, the system has done exactly what Wallace Group asked for. Delivery vehicles move through without friction. Unauthorised cars are turned away without exception.
For Wallace Group, the change is most visible in what they no longer have to manage. There are no fobs to issue, no codes to distribute, no calls from delivery drivers who can't get through. Authorised plates are updated remotely when contractors change. The barrier makes every access decision automatically, and the access log provides a clear, timestamped record of every vehicle that's entered or been denied.
The site now runs exactly as a commercial property access area should — open to the right vehicles, closed to everyone else, and requiring no day-to-day involvement from the management team to stay that way.
